The Palace Park at Drottningholm was established in stages and was influenced by three main styles. A walk in the Park shows firstly a French-inspired Baroque garden dating from the late 17th century.
The garden around the Chinese Pavilion was laid out in the mid-1700s, when the strict garden design ideal gave way to a more natural kind of park. During Gustav III’s reign, the natural landscape garden ideal, with inspiration from England, was introduced. The Palace Park is open to the public and admission is free. www.kungahuset.se
